Hello, the gastrologist prescribed my child 4 months after a correction of 1 month (because it is premature) the drug Helicid. We open the capsule and divide the agent into a field of administration 2 times a day for 5 mg. The baby does not yet eat anything except milk. How do I give it to such a small child

To @Ewelina: If you have doubts, it is best to consult a pediatrician who will assess whether in this particular case this method of administering the drug is safe.

For @Ewelina, please try to administer the medicine using a syringe (after adding it to the milk). In some pharmacies there are special syringes available for giving syrups to children, perhaps its use will prove helpful.
Unfortunately, the pellets do not pass through the pacifier because the toddler still eats from the pacifier No. 1 where the hole is very tiny. On the other hand, putting pellets in the mouth and drinking milk makes me afraid as a mother of choking / choking the ball :(

Helicid Control 10 mg is available as capsules containing pellets, i.e. "balls" coated with a substance that protects omeprazole from the acidic pH of gastric juice. Breast milk has an inert pH, therefore, if there is such a need, the drug can be added bottles and administered along with milk. Before serving, it should be assessed whether the hole in the nipple is large enough for pellets to pass freely through it. Otherwise, oral administration through a syringe after mixing with a small amount of milk should be considered. Under no circumstances, however, should you try to crush or rub the pellets so as not to damage the coating layer of the pellet - then the drug will be deactivated by gastric juice. Precise dose division may cause a problem. In practice, it happens that doctors prescribe prescriptions for powders shared with the drug Helicid - then the pharmacist precisely divides the dose into a gelatin capsule or starch wafer. In case of problems with the division of the capsule, it is worth consulting with a doctor about the legitimacy of making such a prescription drug.
