Hello. Recently, I started taking birth control pills - Drovelis. Currently I am on the 25th tablet (the first placebo) and from today I also have implemented an antibiotic - Klabion UNO 500 mg (angina) for 7 days. Does this antibiotic affect the effect of contraception? If so, when will full contraceptive protection return? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Antibiotics can negatively affect the effectiveness of hormonal contraception. Although not every antibiotic is equally affected, it is recommended to use an additional method of non-hormonal contraception (condom) during antibiotic therapy and for at least 7 days after its completion, and for increased safety even until the end of the menstrual cycle.
