It is believed that monkey pox is definitely less contagious than COVID-19, close contact is required to transmit the infection from man to person. In addition, both vaccines and drugs that show effectiveness against the monkey pox virus are already being developed. Therefore, the prevailing opinion is that we are not threatened by an epidemic on such a scale as with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. What is worrying, however, is the unusual way in which the smallpox monkey virus has begun to spread beyond African countries.
