Duac is a two-component drug containing clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide. Data on the effect of Duac on pregnancy and its planning are limited. No studies have been conducted on the effects of benzoyl peroxide on reproduction and development. Data from a limited number of pregnancies exposed to clindamycin in the first trimester do not show harmful effects of clindamycin on either pregnancy or the fetus or newborn. The safety of Duacu during planning and during pregnancy has not been determined, therefore the use of the preparation is recommended after a benefit-risk assessment by the attending physician.
