Betnovate N is a preparation containing a steroid (betamethasone) and an antibiotic (neomycin), which is indicated for use in skin diseases with concomitant bacterial infection. According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, rosacea is a contraindication for the application of Betnovate N. However, it should be remembered that this is a prescription preparation and should be used as directed by your doctor. Azelaic acid, on the other hand, has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, as well as brightens the resulting discolorations. Preparations with this substance are indicated and often used for the treatment of rosacea.
