Hello. The psychiatrist prescribed 10 mg to his son Mozarin. After more than 3 weeks it is not better. I have the impression that it is worse. The son says he doesn't want to live. He wants to die. He hadn't told me that before. The drug after more than 3 weeks not only that does not help the child tells me that nothing makes sense and wants to die! So what? Do you have to put it aside? The situation you describe is included in the drug documentation in the section "Suicidal thoughts and aggravation of depression or anxiety disorders": "People who have depression and/or anxiety disorders may sometimes have thoughts of self-harm or committing suicide. These symptoms or behavior may worsen at the beginning of antidepressant use, as these drugs usually take about 2 weeks to take effect, sometimes later." The idea is that these drugs can give some "disinhibition" before they begin to relieve symptoms of depression or anxiety. At the same time, most often it is untreated depression that leads to suicide. These situations are more common in patients who have previously had thoughts of suicide or self-harm (not always spoken) and in young adult patients (generally under the age of 25). According to the Mozarin documentation: "If you think of self-harm or suicide, contact your doctor or go to a hospital immediately." The doctor may intervene for treatment - for example, attach a sedative drug. The help of a psychologist and family support can also be helpful.
