Good morning! Can Microgynon birth control pills cause heart pain? Since March, I have had heart pain and its surroundings and I have been taking pills since January 19. I wonder if they can cause pain due to some intolerance to them by my body. Is this a matter for the cardiologist, because DTA does not cause such pains? Thank you in advance for your answer, greetings!

Until @w.. k..: The doctor is fully qualified in terms of diagnosis and treatment. After collecting a full anamnesis, the doctor will decide what tests to recommend. In this matter, you should trust your doctor.
And in the case of such a visit, do you think that I should ask the doctor to do an echo of the heart in addition to the ECG if he does not come up with such an initiative? Thank you very much for your reply, greetings.

"Heart and area pain" is not listed as a typical, expected or common side effect of Microgynon tablets. However, "chest pain" or "accelerated or irregular heartbeat" are mentioned in the context of the risk of thromboembolic complications that are associated with the use of contraception. Microgynon can cause - like all combined contraceptive pills - an increase in the risk of blood clots in both the arteries and veins, compared to when therapy is not used. It is possible that your ailments are not related to taking Microgynon. These can be, for example, so-called neuralgia. However, it is impossible to say for sure what the cause is without a direct examination and e.g. ECG and possibly additional laboratory tests. Regardless of this, since this is the second month of ailments that do not go away, it should prompt you to consult a doctor without delay.
