It is impossible to clearly determine how long the midcyclical bleeding may last - this is a matter of individual concern for each case. It can last several days, a week, and in rare cases even the entire cycle.

Stressful situations may increase the risk of side effects of contraceptive pills, which include, m.in, spotting and mid-cycle bleeding. Taking pills with a 1-2 hour delay is not a mistake and does not affect the effectiveness of contraception. Similarly, the occurrence of bleeding during the cycle does not mean that the protective effectiveness has been reduced.
