What is the difference between Atrodil and Salbutamol? Do they work the same? I suffer from asthma and take Salbutamol for bronchodilation but it often causes heart palpitation and insomnia. Can Atrodil be better in this respect?

Both Atrodil and Salbutamol are drugs that cause short-term bronchodilation. They differ in the mechanism of action, affect other receptors. Atrodil inhibits cholinergic receptors (it is classified as inhaled cholinolytics), salbutamol stimulates beta receptors (included in the group of beta-mimetics). In the case of both preparations, the effect of action is the relaxation of the smooth muscles of the bronchi, the expansion of them. To sum up, drugs work in a different way but show the same healing effect. Inhaled cholinolytics are considered safe drugs, to a small extent there is their absorption into the bloodstream . Among the side effects of Atrodil, palpitations can also be distinguished, this side effect occurs less often than in the case of Salbutamol, in 1 to 10 patients per 1000. Atrodil and Salbutamol are prescription drugs. Asthma treatment therapy is individually selected by a specialist based on the patient's state of health.
