The doctor selects the dose depending on the symptoms and condition of the patient, so it is not my role to assess whether it will be sufficient. In the case of recurrent herpes and bothersome skin symptoms, the so-called suppressive therapy consisting in long-term use of high doses of acyclovir may be effective. It can reduce the frequency of relapses and the patient's comfort, but its legitimacy will be decided by the doctor. According to current knowledge, such therapy can be considered in patients in whom herpes labial herpes appears more than 6 times a year. Relapses of herpes occur m.in as a result of physical fatigue, prolonged stress, upper respiratory tract infections and infections in the mouth area. To reduce the chance of herpes appearing, it is worth taking care of these aspects through adequate time for rest and sleep, care for the hygiene of the mouth area. For Heviran tablets, you can additionally use creams or gels with acyclovir or protective patches available without a prescription. They limit the spread of skin eruptions.
