Kventiax SR is a prolonged-release preparation, which means that the active substance of the drug is released gradually and the maximum plasma concentration is reached 6 hours after taking the tablet. The maximum concentration of quetiapine (the active ingredient in Kventiax and Kventiax SR) when regular Kventiax tablets are given is achieved more quickly and is higher, which may cause these side effects.
