Can a child weighing 21 kg take 6 ml Klacid 250 mg/5 ml twice a day?
Hello is 6ml - 2x a day, for a 7-year-old child weighing 21kg of Klacid syrup (250mg / 5ml suspension) is a good dose? The child, i.e. the girl, has purulent inflammation of the tonsils.

The dose of the drug was not exceeded. The dosage is established correctly. In acute bacterial infections, 15 mg/kg body weight is administered 2 times a day. Thus, for a child weighing 21 kg, it will be 315 mg of the drug in a single dose. Since the syrup contains 250 mg in 5 ml - in order to take 315 mg of antibiotic, 6.3 ml of syrup should be given - that is, a dose of 6 ml twice a day will be correct.
