In the vast majority of cases, acetylsalicylic acid (e.g., Acard) should be taken for life after a heart attack except in two situations. First, if there are contraindications or side effects of the drug used, then such treatment should be verified (after consulting a doctor). Combining Sulfasalazinum with Acard should be carried out only after consultation with a doctor and under the strict supervision of a specialist. Acard causes the toxicity of sulphonamides (e.g. Sulfasalazinum) to the haematopoietic system, kidneys and liver. The risk of haemolysis and haemolytic anemia (reduced red blood cell count) is also increased.
