Voltaren in this case will not be effective. Voltaren works pain in striated muscles, and when catheterizing we are dealing with pain in smooth muscles. To reduce pain during catheterization, special gels with lidocaine are used, which cover the urethra. Lidocaine has a local anesthetic effect and relieves ailments. After removing the catheter, minor pain generally disappears after 1-3 days.
