Diarrhea while taking Brintellix - what to do?

I have been taking Brintellix for 3 months and since then I have been constantly struggling with diarrhea, is there anything I can take protectively on the intestines? Or something that will help inhibit these side effects? Unfortunately, this is very cumbersome and hinders normal functioning

Diarrhoea is a common adverse reaction reported with Brintellix. As for probiotics, antidiarrheal activity has been confirmed in relation to the yeast strain Saccharomyces boulardii. You can use one of the preparations containing the following strain, e.g. Enterol, Enteromax, Dierol. Brintellix does not affect the intestinal battery flora, therefore a typical protective effect, understood in the case of probiotics as supporting the restoration of intestinal bacterial flora, is not required. Similarly, the so-called "shield" in the form of drugs that inhibit the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach will also not have an effect. In some cases, taking the drug with a meal helps relieve side effects associated with the operation of the gastrointestinal tract, including diarrhea. You do not mention how you take the medicine. If you use it regardless of meals, it is worth starting to take the medicine while eating. However, given the fact that the ailments are chronic in nature, and the chronic use of antidiarrheal drugs is not recommended, and the use of probiotics containing yeast strains according to some sources can be safely taken for no more than 15 weeks, if the ailments persist, I recommend consulting the problem with the doctor who recommended taking Brintellix. In the event that side effects impede the daily functioning of the patient, a change of drug should be considered.
