At low doses, Flixotide and other fluticasone-based medications can be safely used in children to treat dry, tiring cough that accompanies infection. The drug has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, the drug is absorbed into the general circulation to a small extent. Thus, short-term intake of the drug during the duration of the infection will be safe and prevent the further development of infection.
