Can I use Zinnat if I am hypersensitive to penicillin?

Good morning, is it possible to take ZINNAT 500 tablets . in hypersensitivity to penicillin and its derivatives? (hemorrhagic colitis came out). The doctor says yes, but I took one pill and after two hours from that moment my head hurt.

I encourage you to consult your doctor, who will recommend further therapeutic treatment. Please describe the side effect of the medicine that you are experiencing. Perhaps the occurrence of a headache is independent of the use of the drug. Zinnat, on the other hand, contains as the active substance cefuroxime axetyl. It is an antibiotic from the group of cephalosporins. Cephalosporins belong, like penicillins, to the so-called betalactam antibiotics. Betalactam antibiotics have a similar chemical structure and can cause allergic cross-reactions. Its use is not recommended in patients who have a severe allergic reaction or hypersensitivity m.in to penicillins. The decision to use an antibiotic should be made by your doctor based on your medical history, current infection and interview: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/86014/zinnat-tabletki-powlekane/ulotka/118475 I encourage you to report a headache as a potential side effect of Zinnat. Reporting side effects allows you to increase control over medicines available on the market. We wrote about how and why to report side effects in the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-i-dlaczego-zglaszac-dzialania-niepozadane
