There is no one-size-fits-all over-the-counter formulation that will be most effective in all patients with high cholesterol. There are no "better" and "worse" drugs - they can be better or worse selected. Over-the-counter remedies, which are dedicated to lowering cholesterol levels, are mostly dietary supplements. Their task is therefore to supplement the daily diet with ingredients that will allow you to maintain the proper level of lipids in the blood. They do not have a therapeutic effect, because by definition they are not medicines, so they will not "knock down" high cholesterol levels on their own - they can support the action of pharmacological agents that lower cholesterol (drugs) and enrich the diet used for this purpose: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/czym-roznia-sie-leki-od-suplementow Dietary supplements can therefore be used prophylactically or as an adjunct. The effect of their action occurs after about 3 months of regular use. Examples of supplements that can be recommended in case of problems with elevated cholesterol levels can be found here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/app/kategorie/leki-na-miazdzyce These include, among others, preparations containing: monacolin K, e.g. LipiForma Plus: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/43966/lipiforma-plus-kapsulki/apteki that works on a similar principle as statins (one of the groups of prescription cholesterol drugs), polycosanol, e.g. ArmoLipid: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/7116/armolipid-tabletki/apteki, plant sterols (phytosterols), e.g. Sterolea: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/74800/sterolea-tabletki-powlekane/apteki or bergamot, e.g. Berimal Forte: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/97744/berimal-forte-kapsulki/apteki Preparations registered as drugs whose effectiveness has been confirmed in clinical trials have a therapeutic effect. These types of cholesterol-lowering agents include, for example, Cynarex: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/app/produkty/20686/cynarex-tabletki/apteki or Cholitol: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/17651/cholitol-plyn/apteki I enclose a study that may be helpful: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/wysoki-cholesterol
