Antibiotics, e.g. Dalacin C, can weaken the effect of contraception on several levels: - in the case of oral contraception by disturbing the composition of the bacterial flora in the intestines, necessary to convert the hormones contained in the pills into active forms, which limits their absorption from the tablets into the blood, - in the case of contraception, which bypasses the gastrointestinal tract, e.g. discs, patches, spirals, implants, by inhibiting or stimulating hormone metabolism in the liver, so that the medicine may not work as it should (act for less or longer, cause side effects). In the case of a spiral, the risk of an antibiotic interfering with its effect is very small, although it cannot be completely ruled out that it will not affect its effectiveness at all. It is recommended that throughout the course of antibiotic therapy and for 7 days after its completion, use mechanical protection, e.g. a condom for men: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/prezerwatywy-dla-mezczyzn I attach studies that may be helpful: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/app/artykuly/jakie-leki-oslabiaja-skutecznosc-antykoncepcji
