I take dostinex at a dose of 2 x 0.5 mg per week due to pituitary adenoma. In addition, I often have depressive episodes for which I take medications, e.g. Aciprex. These drugs raise prolactin and dostinex should lower it. So I'm stuck in a vicious circle. Recently, despite taking dostinex, prolactin jumped to 100 because I was taking antidepressants. Or maybe there is an antidepressant that does not raise prolactin. How to deal with this problem?

I consulted a psychiatrist. The drug containing bupropion after eight tablets raised prolactin so much that I had to stop treatment. I do not want to test anymore because it comes out expensive and I doubt the positive effect. ..

Among the antidepressants referred to in the literature as drugs that do not affect the concentration of prolactin in the blood, m.in are mentioned. bupropion, venlafaxine, mirtazapine, nefazodone trazodone. However, please remember that the treatment of a given patient is decided by the doctor based on the medical history and the detailed anamnesis collected. I encourage you to consult your psychiatrist again and inform him of this problem. Perhaps it is possible to modify the treatment and use a drug that will not cause an increase in the concentration of prolactin in the blood.
