Can Metypred cause skin changes (e.g. acne)?

The husband took 5 days for 3 tablets of Metypred 16mg. Now for 15 days one tablet per day. He has paralysis of the facial nerve. Today I noticed that he has his whole back, shoulders and a little belly in pimples (like acne). Is it from the drug? Should I report this to my doctor? How to remedy this?

All drugs available for sale are checked for safety. When a pharmaceutical company places any drug on the market, it must prove that it is safe for patients. Therefore, it conducts so-called clinical trials - first on experimental animals, and then on humans. Whether a drug is safe and effective enough to be on the pharmacy shelf is assessed by the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products. The quality of the drug, i.e. whether it has no harmful impurities or bacteria, is also supervised by the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector. Any drug - including Metypred - may or may not cause side effects. The manufacturer of the drug is obliged to inform the patient about all possible side effects that may be related to the use of his preparation, but this does not mean that everyone will see all of them. Irregular menstruation is one of the possible side effects of Metypred, but they do not necessarily have to appear in you. The information attached to the drug contains important tips that should be analyzed before its use. Such a benefit-risk assessment should be made by a doctor familiar with your medical history. Please do not worry in advance about the effects you write about, but focus on the correct implementation of therapy, which is the key to avoiding them. Fear of possible side effects can hinder the treatment process and it is this that can have a greater impact on the occurrence of side effects than the drug itself. Stress before reaching for the drug can lead to abandonment of therapy, which in consequences can be much worse for health than possible side effects that may or may not occur. The warnings contained in the leaflet must not be underestimated, but common sense should be maintained. If your doctor has prescribed a medication, it means that he thinks taking it is more beneficial for you than not being treated. The drug may or may not cause side effects, while if left untreated, the disease can worsen, cause adverse changes in the body or cause complications. I have Crohn's disease. The doctor prescribed me Metypred 4 mg 1 x a day. In the leaflet I read that it is a steroid. I am very afraid to take this drug - I am afraid that my menstruation will be deregulated? Could it be? Is this drug safe?

When using Metypred, various skin reactions may occur (such as acne, hirsutism, stretch marks, petechiae and atrophic changes of the skin), so it may be due to the drug. However, please do not stop the therapy on your own and contact your doctor, who will assess whether these changes are definitely caused by Metypred and whether in this case an additional drug should be introduced to alleviate this side effect. Side effects of the preparation can also be reported to the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products or the Entity responsible for a given drug. User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
