When taking duphaston and lutein (vaginally), should grapefruit (I am pregnant) be excluded from the diet? Doesn't this have an effect with these drugs?

There is no need to completely eliminate grapefruit from the diet, but it is worth maintaining at least a 4-hour interval between the use of these drugs and the consumption of grapefruit. The ingredients contained in grapefruit inhibit the activity of the cytochrome P450 isoenzyme 3A4, which is responsible for the metabolism of didrogesterone (a component of Duphaston) and progesterone (a component of Lutein). In simple terms, the liver will be "busy" with the decomposition of grapefruit, not drugs, which will increase their concentration in the body (the effect of the drug will be enhanced). This will not affect the effectiveness of the therapy, but may increase the risk of side effects (e.g. headache, nausea, vomiting).
