I give a 3 year old child syrup for wet cough pecto drill which today I accidentally broke, I have no way to get a prescription for a new bottle at the weekend, can I give another expectorant syrup that I have at home eg Flavamed and on Monday return to pecto drill? Can you swap in this way?

These preparations differ from each other in active substances. They are not their counterparts and should not be used interchangeably. As a last resort, it is better that the available expectorant preparation is administered than none.
