Is it normal for my husband to constantly sleep and forget after Oxycontin?

For 2 days my husband has been taking oxycontin 20 mg medication, it looks like he is foamy, he is constantly sleeping, he forgets what he is talking about, is it normal and will it stay that way? He suffers from colon cancer, and recently began severe back pain

If you feel sleepy more than usual (until you calm down too much), you may experience an adverse reaction with Oxycontin in more than 1 in 10 people. The state of confusion may be a side effect in 1 in 10 patients taking this product. Disturbances in concentration or psycho-physical performance may particularly affect the initiation of treatment with OxyContin, when increasing the dose or when combined with certain other medicines. However, if you notice that the disorders observed in your husband are very severe, it is worth contacting a doctor. OxyContin is used to treat severe pain, it is an opioid drug - such drugs are used if other drugs are not effective enough.
