The vaccine produced by Novavax is called Nuvaxovid. As of January 11, it is not yet available in Poland, but it should be expected that it will appear at vaccination points in a short time. You can find a description of the preparation and more information about it in the following link: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/114194/nuvaxovid-szczepionka-na-covid-19-bialkowa-z-adiuwantem-iniekcja/apteki The vaccine contains a version of a protein found on the surface of SARS-CoV-2 - a spike protein, which, however, was produced in the laboratory. Therefore, it is also referred to as a "protein vaccine". It can be said that the previously available vaccines contained information for the body on how to produce such a protein. Nuvaxovid gives a kind of "finished product". This mode of production is more like traditional vaccines if we want to make a comparison to mRNA-based vaccines. Nuvaxovid in the composition also has an "adjuvant" - a substance that helps strengthen the immune response to the vaccine. After taking the vaccine, the patient's immune system will identify the protein as foreign and develop a natural defense against it in the form of antibodies and T lymphocytes. Nuvaxovid - like the Pfizer vaccine - is administered in a cycle of two basic doses. The effectiveness of the vaccine has been estimated at about 90%, but data on whether Nuvaxovid will also be effective against new variants, including the Omicron variant, are limited.
It will be on February 21, according to the spokesman of the Ministry of Health
