Withdrawal reactions may occur if citalopram treatment is abruptly discontinued. These reactions are manifested by dizziness, paresthesia (including feeling like an electric shock), sleep disturbances (including insomnia and severe dreams), agitation, anxiety, muscle tremors, nausea and/or vomiting, confusion, sweating, headache, diarrhoea, palpitations, emotional instability, irritability and visual disturbances. Citalopram should be discontinued slowly, it is recommended to gradually reduce the dose of the drug for a period of 1 to 2 weeks.
