Eplerenon (składnik aktywny leku Espiro) ze względu na swoje selektywne działanie i niskie powinowactwo do receptorów dla androgenów i progesterony nie powinien powodować zaburzeń na tle seksualnym, a przynajmniej ryzyko takie jest istotnie zminimalizowane w porównaniu do spironolaktonu (lek z tej samej grupy terapeutycznej).
