Kaptopryl ma okres półtrwania (parametr definiujący rozpad leku) we krwi około 2 godzin. Jest to krótko. To oznacza, że jego wpływ hipotensyjny utrzymuje się 6, maksymalnie do 12 godzin. Dokumentacja leków zawierających kaptopryl w składzie dostarcza informacji, że ponad 95% wchłoniętej dawki kaptoprylu jest wydalane z moczem w ciągu 24 godzin.
