Should I take another ellaOne tablet to reduce my risk of getting pregnant?
Hello. I had unprotected intercourse and after 17 hours I received Ellaone. However, I have very irregular menstruation and hence my question is there a chance to get pregnant? Is it safer to take another one while you can, the end of the time in which you can take this pill is approaching.

Działanie ellaOne polega na opóźnieniu wystąpienia owulacji, czyli uwolnienia komórki jajowej, która jest niezbędna do zapłodnienia. Jeśli zatem lek zostanie przyjęty po owulacji nie będzie miał szans zadziałać. Należy zatem wyliczyć sobie, w którym mniej więcej dniu cyklu się Pani aktualnie znajduje. Jajeczkowanie ma zwykle miejsce ok. 14 dni przed wystąpieniem miesiączki.
Proszę pamiętać, że przyjęcie kolejnej tabletki ellaOne nie zmniejszy ryzyka zajścia w ciążę - taka praktyka jest zatem bezzasadna.
