Niestety nie ma zamiennika tego leku.
Istnieje lek z taką samą substancją (Theophyllinum) i taką samą dawką, lecz różnią się sposobem uwalniania. Jest to lek o nazwie Theospirex retard.
Euphylin long to lek o zmodyfikowanym uwalnianiu, natomiast Theospirex retard o przedłużonym uwalnianiu.
Lek o przedłużonym uwalnianiu uwalnia lek ze stała szybkością przez dłuższy czas, natomiast lek o zmodyfikowanym uwalnianiu może uwalniać substancję pulsacyjnie, może również posiadać formację o przedłużonym czy opóźnionym uwalnianiu.
Z tego względu farmaceuta nie może zamiennie wydać tych dwóch preparatów.
