What should an instructor do if I have an asthma attack during an exam?
In July 2021 I was diagnosed with asthma, I am prescribed by an allergist the drug Alvesco and Ventolin.Always when I had attacks (they occurred so 2-3 times a week) the drugs helped. But in a situation where he is stressed or upset, then these attacks always occur and then the drugs do not help. This Thursday I am waiting for an internal driving test with an instructor and I'm afraid that if I get stressed I can have an asthma attack then what is the instructor to do because as I wrote in such situations the drugs do not help and my instructor has never been in such a situation so he does not know what to do then? I ask that in case there is an attack to show him what to do (show before the start of the exam). Thank you for your answers

W zaostrzeniu astm czy też "ataku astmy" lekiem pierwszego wyboru jest szybko działający beta-2-mimetyk - taki jak na przykład salbutamol zawarty w preparacie Ventolin. Podaje się także glikokortykosteroidy systemowo (na ogół dożylnie) oraz tlenoterapię. Pacjent powinien być monitorowany. Czynnikiem wywołującym może być silny stres.
Jeśli w sytuacjach stresowych leki przepisane przez alergologa nie pomagają, to w przypadku wystąpienia zaostrzenia choroby, instruktor może zapewnić Pani dostęp do świeżego powietrza, mimo wszystko pomóc w przyjęciu leku, postarać się uspokoić Panią i wezwać służby medyczne - zadzwonić pod 112 i stosować się do wytycznych dyspozytora.
Jednocześnie jeśli wie Pani, że stres wywołuje zaostrzenia choroby niemożliwe do opanowania posiadanymi lekami duszności, to powinno to skłonić Panią do wizyty u lekarza w celu omówienia problemu i - być może - poprawy kontroli astmy. Warto także zastanowić się, czy decyzja o podejściu do egzaminu wewnętrznego w tym momencie jest uzasadniona, skoro ma Pani wiedzę, że może ona sprowadzić na Panią sytuację zagrożenia zdrowia.
