Heparegen działa "osłonowo" na wątrobę w sytuacji podwyższonego ryzyka uszkodzenia komórek wątrobowych np. w przebiegu chorób wątroby, zażywania leków hepatotoskycznych oraz zakażeń wirusowych, które także mogą działać szkodliwie na ten narząd, np. mononukleoza, wirusowe zapalenie wątroby.
W związku z tym stosowanie Heparegenu nie jest przeciwskazane po zabiegu usunięcia kamieni żółciowych oraz pęcherzyka żółciowego.
