Dawka oraz częstość podania zależą od stanu pacjenta oraz ciężkości przebiegu choroby, a w przypadku dzieci dobierana jest także do masy ciała pacjenta. Minimalny okres kuracji pozwalający oszacować jej efekty to 12-16 tygodni.
