Zarejestrowane wskazania dla leków zawierających arypiprazol to schizofrenia oraz leczenie epizodów maniakalnych z objawami silnej ekscytacji i pobudzenia. W większych dawkach może jednak korzystnie wpływać także na objawy negatywne (takie jak między innymi apatia, wycofanie, ubóstwo emocjonalne). Jego korzystną właściwością jest, że nie zaburza funkcji poznawczych.
