Decyzję o podaniu szczepionki podejmuje lekarz dokonujący kwalifikacji do szczepienia.
Zakrzepica oraz żylaki nie stanowią przeciwwskazania do przyjęcia szczepionek, takich jak Comirnaty (Pfizer), Spikevax (Moderna), COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen; w związku z komunikatem EMA dotyczącym przypadków zakrzepicy, przeciwwskazane może być podanie w takim przypadku szczepionki Vaxzevria (Astra Zeneca):
