Substancją czynną leku Symla jest lamotrygina. Niektóre źródła podają, że picie alkoholu podczas stosowania leku może nasilać jego działania niepożądane związane z układem nerwowym, jak: zawroty głowy, senność czy zaburzenia koncentracji. W związku z tym należy unikać spożywania alkoholu lub ograniczyć go do minimum.
