What is the mechanism of action of fluoxetine?

Good day, the doctor prescribed me flucosetyne and my question is whether flucosetine only works on serotonin levels? Does it also raise dopamine and norepinephrine levels? What is the mechanism of action of the drug ? Yours sincerely Beata

Fluoksetyna jest selektywnym inhibitorem wychwytu zwrotnego serotoniny (SSRI)- substancja blokuje transport serotoniny z powrotem do komórki nerwowej, dzięki temu jej poziom w mózgu wzrasta. Temu mechanizmowi przypisuje się właściwości przeciwdepresyjne leku. Fluoksetyna praktycznie nie ma powinowactwa do innych receptorów. Inhibitory wychwytu zwrotnego serotoniny i noradrenaliny (SNRI) są osobną podgrupą leków przeciwdepresyjnych.
