Should I stop using birth control pills if I have varicose veins?
I have been taking birth control pills for 3 years. Recently, I noticed spiders on my legs and there was persistent pain in the legs. The FAMILY doctor said it was the beginning of varicose veins and instructed to take diohespan and galvenox. Should I stop taking contraception?

Choć stosowanie antykoncepcji hormonalnej zwiększa ryzyko powstawania żylaków, same żylaki nie stanowią przeciwwskazania do dalszego przyjmowania tabletek antykoncepcyjnych.
W takiej sytuacji warto poradzić się lekarza, który jeśli uzna za zasadne skieruje Panią do chirurga naczyniowego. Specjalista oceni, jak poważne są zamiany oraz czy istnieje duże ryzyko rozwoju choroby zakrzepowo-zatorowej. Na postawie wyników badań będzie można określić, czy w Pani przypadku dalsze przyjmowanie tabletek antykoncepcyjnych będzie bezpieczne.
