Jeśli stosuje Pani antykoncepcję hormonalną, to nie powinna występować owulacja, zatem pęcherzyk Graaffa nie powinien być widoczny. Zdarzają się jednak sytuacje, że leki antykoncepcyjne u pewnego odsetka pacjentek nie blokują skutecznie jajeczkowania i pęcherzyk jest uwalniany.
Jeśli tabletki Microgynon nie stanowią wystarczającej ochrony antykoncepcyjnej, to plamienia śródcykliczne mogą być tego skutkiem.
Równie dobrze plamienie może wynikać z biegunki. 3-dniowa biegunka, która następuje szybciej niż po 4 godzinach od zażycia tabletki, osłabia jej skuteczność. Tabletka zatem nie wchłania się w dostatecznym stopniu, a nieodpowiednia ilość hormonów wywołuje plamienie.
