Jest mało prawdopodobne, że preparaty z ranitydyną wrócą na rynek leków w najbliższym czasie. Leki takie, jak np. Ranigast zostały wycofane ze względu na przekroczenie norm NMDA w substancji czynnej. NMDA jest związkiem silnie toksycznym i karcynogennym.
