Urotrim jest produktem leczniczym (lekiem) wydawanym z przepisu lekarza (na receptę).

Firma farmaceutyczna wprowadzając Urotrim na rynek musiała udowodnić, że jest on skuteczny i bezpieczny dla pacjentów. Prowadziła zatem tzw. badania kliniczne najpierw na zwierzętach doświadczalnych, a następnie na ludziach.

To, czy Urotrim jest na tyle bezpieczny i skuteczny, aby znaleźć się na aptecznej półce, ocenił Urząd Rejestracji Produktów Leczniczych, Wyrobów Medycznych i Produktów Biobójczych. Nad jakością leku, czyli między innymi tym, czy nie posiada szkodliwych zanieczyszczeń lub bakterii, czuwa ponadto Główny Inspektor Farmaceutyczny.
