Z uwagi na swoje działanie uspokajające, waleriana zwiększa ryzyko wystąpienia działań niepożądanych leków z grupy SSRI - np. senności, zaburzeń koncentracji, zawrotów głowy. Dlatego nie należy łączyć waleriany z lekami przeciwdepresyjnymi, przeciwlękowymi, nasennymi.
