Isn't the 3% NaCl solution to inhalation too strong for a 4-year-old child?
Hi.the doctor prescribed us nebu-dose (4-year-old child) twice a day, the salt concentration is much higher because 3%, previously we used saline with a concentration of 0.9%. Isn't that too strong a concentration for a child? The child coughs heavily during inhalation. The doctor does not see anything wrong with this.

No, a 3% saline concentration is not very strong for a 4-year-old child. Thanks to the hypertonic (3%) concentration of sodium chloride (NaCl), the preparation has an expectorant effect - it reduces the viscosity and elasticity of mucus, reduces swelling of the walls of the respiratory tract and stimulates coughing, thanks to which it leads to the removal of residual secretions from the respiratory tract and its unblocking. Therefore, increased coughing during inhalation is not a cause for concern and should be continued in order for the preparation to work as intended.
A 3% sodium chloride solution is successfully used even in younger children, if there are specific indications for it.

Nie, 3% stężenie soli fizjologicznej nie jest zbyt duże dla 4-letniego dziecka. Preparat taki jest z powodzeniem stosowany u młodszych dzieci, jeśli są ku temu konkretne wskazania.
