Przyjmując antybiotyki z grupy tetracyklin, w tym doksycyklinę, nie należy się opalać i należy unikać słońca oraz innych źródeł promieniowania UV. Wspomniane leki mogą wywoływać nadwrażliwość na światło, a w konsekwencji wywoływać choroby skóry (fotodermatozy). Objawy to zaczerwienienie skóry, obrzęk, pęcherzyki. Wystąpienie takich objawów w trakcie kuracji wymaga kontaktu z lekarzem.
