After the 5-year expiry date of the Mirena IUD, should I additionally protect myself with a condom until it is removed?

This week I have reached the 5-year term of mirena. Should I use additional contraception before removing my current IUD and until I put on a new one (I plan to do it within a week)?

I've had a Cooper TC 380A cartridge for 10 years now, if I'm late replacing it what could be the consequences. The cylinder should be replaced by the end of December this year. Does it have any additional term. I'm 50 years old and I know that doesn't exempt me from the consequences

Prędkość uwalniania lewonorgestrelu - substancji czynnej leku Mirena - w jamie macicy wynosi początkowo 20 µg/dobę i zmniejsza się po 5 latach do 10 µg/dobę. Nie jest więc tak, że w tej chwili nie jest Pani w ogóle chroniona przed ciążą, jednak ryzyko zapłodnienia znacznie wzrasta (z 0,2% do 0,7%), dlatego do momentu wyjęcia wkładki sugerowałabym stosowanie dodatkowej metody ochrony w formie prezerwatywy.
