Can frequent urination before menstruation be a cause for concern?

Is frequent urination in the second phase of the menstrual cycle normal? Sometimes it is 7 days before the period sometimes only 2 days. Is this a cause for concern?

Frequent urination can be one of the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which usually occurs a week before the planned menstruation. Its greatest severity is observed 2 days before the period, while on the 1st day of menstrual bleeding the symptoms disappear. It is assumed that women suffering from PMS syndrome are more sensitive to fluctuations in sex hormone concentrations occurring during the cycle. In most cases, the level of these hormones in women with PMS remains normal, so this should not be a cause for concern. Among the symptoms of PMS, as many as 150 different ailments related to the physical and mental sphere are mentioned, among which breast pain, pain and tenderness of the nipples, headaches, mood changes, water retention in the body are most often observed. Perhaps, excessive urination is related to the earlier retention of water in the body, which must be excreted. If these symptoms recur regularly every month, they are usually not a cause for concern. If, on the other hand, they hinder your normal functioning, it is worth reaching for the help of a doctor who will offer therapy to alleviate unpleasant symptoms. Frequent urination can also be a symptom of cystitis, so if the situation persists also after the menstrual bleeding has subsided, it is worth considering whether we are not dealing with cystitis. Then, in the first place, it is worth doing a home test for urinary tract infections. The test can be purchased in stationary or online pharmacies with home delivery: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/24317/domowe-laboratorium-test-na-infekcje-drog-moczowych-test-paskowy/apteki The test is recommended for people who feel a strong pressure on the bladder while urinating a small amount and feel discomfort in the form of burning and pain when emptying the bladder. The result can be read after just 2 minutes. The detection of nitrites or elevated leukocyte concentrations in the tested sample indicates a developing urinary tract infection and may be an indication for continued treatment, e.g. with the use of another antibiotic. If the test result indicates the absence of nitrates or leukocytes in the urine, supportive treatment may be considered, e.g. the use of nettle or cranberry supplements, which can be purchased without a prescription. These preparations can be purchased in stationary or online pharmacies with shipping, e.g. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/86629/zuravit-kapsulki/apteki https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/81022/urosept-drazetki/apteki At the same time, it is worth taking care of an adequate supply of liquids - drink min. 2 liters of water per day. You can also implement a treatment with probiotics. These remedies are available in a pharmacy without a prescription, e.g. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/92121/urolact-proszek-do-wytworzenia-zawiesiny/apteki https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/42281/lakcid-forte-kapsulki/apteki If, despite the use of the above-mentioned treatments, the symptoms do not disappear within 1-2 weeks or get worse, then you should consult a doctor, e.g. here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja You can also read about the treatment of cystitis here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/zakazenie-drog-moczowych

Do @Sonia:

W przypadku, gdy test wyjdzie negatywny zachęcam do poczekania do spodziewanego terminu miesiączki i powtórzeniu testu. W przypadku testu pozytywnego zachęcam do umówienia się na wizytę do ginekologa.
