The manufacturer of Saxenda does not provide any information about the consumption of alcohol while taking the drug, but the lack of such information cannot be treated as permission to drink it. Alcohol consumption significantly increases the risk of hypoglycemia at night. The liver is responsible for maintaining glycemia at the right level during sleep, which acts as a storehouse of the body, because it accumulates glucose stores in the form of glycogen. When blood sugar levels drop, glycogen turns into glucose, penetrates the bloodstream and raises blood sugar levels. We also need insulin at night, when we do not eat meals, because the liver provides us with energy. When we drink alcohol, the liver is busy metabolizing it, so its basic function is blocked - the production and secretion of glycogen, therefore, after drinking alcohol, especially in diabetics, it is easy to have severe hypoglycemia. According to the Polish Diabetes Association, in the context of the recommended amount of alcohol consumption by people with diabetes, the safe daily dose of ethyl alcohol is 20 g for women and 30 g for men. After drinking alcohol, it is necessary to measure sugar before going to bed. Please avoid alcohol if, in addition to diabetes, you are accompanied by pancreatitis, kidney disease, neuropathy or nephropathy. Pozdrawiam

O zastosowaniu leku Saxenda powinien zdecydować lekarz diabetolog.

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
