Among the serious side effects that may arise as a result of the combination of the drug with alcohol, the information about the drug lists: "confusion, states of excitement and agitation, depression with suicidal tendencies, anxiety, irritability, delusions, nightmares, hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that do not exist), psychosis (loss of contact with reality), unusual behaviors." In addition, alcohol enhances the sedative (extinguishing) effect of clonazepam, "until the onset of impaired motor coordination and loss of consciousness." It is difficult to assess how much the amount of 100 ml of alcohol can harm a person using clonazepam, because the interaction concerns ethanol, the amount of which varies from one species of alcoholic products to another. The interval of 3 hours is insufficient to prevent possible interaction.
