Can the fact that I have been taking Concerte (methylphenidate) every day for over a year affect the feeling of the effects of other psychoactive substances? In fact, I do not experience practically any effect of various other stimulants, which did not happen a few months ago. Could this be the cause?

The methylphenidate contained in Concerta is a psychoactive agent. The mechanism of therapeutic action of the drug in the treatment of ADHD is not fully understood. It is believed that the preparation affects the reuptake of serotonin and dopamine in the central nervous system. This may affect the way other drugs (e.g. stimulants, antidepressants) feel, due to, m.in, a change in the proportions of neurotransmitters in the nervous system. In addition, prolonged use of the preparation may cause symptoms of drug dependence, which may also reduce the effects experienced.
Due to the possibility of intensifying the side effects of drugs and increasing the risk of drug dependence, Concerta should not be combined with other stimulants. The use of an additional stimulant preparation may cause the occurrence of symptoms, e.g. related to serotonergic syndrome.
If you think that the effect of the drug is too weak, you should consult your doctor again. You can also take advantage of teleconsultation, e.g. via the Gdziepolek.pl portal:
