The Mirena vaginal system should be used with caution in patients who have experienced migraine and severe headaches. Mirena can cause pain to worsen, although not all patients will experience this problem. It should be taken into account that the IUD must be removed in case of adverse reactions. Hormone-free (copper) coils may be a better option for women suffering from migraine headaches.
